Flying High with Thomas Cook

Thomas Cook recently acquired a brand new warehouse facility at the newly created Airport City (Manchester Airport) to create a bespoke Part 145 storage facility for the storage and management of aircraft parts to support its fleet of aircraft.

“The investment and opportunity given by our management team supporting us meant we wanted to ensure we created a world-class store capable of delivering expectation.

Having previous relations with PRO-DEK we decided to approach them for a very competitive quote to design and install new pallet racking, euro shelving as well as install some of our existing cantilever racking which we had returned from another facility.

As usual, the support from PRO-DEK was first-class from start to finish. The team completed the install within 3 weeks and the communication throughout from PRO-DEK and the team ensured that all requirements were met and on time.

Brian’s recommendations after the first site visit meant we had to tweak our initial drawings but this advice proved valuable to ensure the install went to plan and met our needs for the flow of the warehouse in readiness for our new stock management system.

Brian was very approachable and flexible throughout and willing to make it happen with the dedicated support of his team.

We look forward to working with the team from PRO-DEK again in the near future.” (Andrew Mckew – MSC Senior Stores Supervisor, Thomas Cook)

All in all PRO-DEK installed 10 runs of pallet racking, measuring 37 meters in length and 6 meters in height accompanied by 31 linear meters of heavy duty shelving. The anti-collapse mesh creates a safe working environment for any pedestrian activity next to the adjustable pallet racking storage system. The installation was fully kitted out with tubular rack end barriers and hi-visibility rack armours to protect the racking from any forklift activity damage, creating longevity for the system. The aisle width and bridging bays throughout the racking encourages safe means of working for both warehouse staff and machinery.

Thomas Cook was a pleasure to work with, making the day-to-day installation seamless and accommodating.
